ABOUT AUTISM

WEAP

Autism is a developmental disorder which generally first appears in children around age 2. Language that had been learned begins to drop off. More and more the child appears isolated from their world. They can’t communicate in a way that can be easily understood and will spend hours by themselves not doing much of anything.

As time goes by they get further and further behind their peers. If not treated, many of these children will be institutionalized. Without therapy, there are no good options for these children or their families.

Wisconsin Early Autism Project is bringing hope to these families. With our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, up to 50% of these children are becoming indistinguishable from their peers and are given a fighting chance for a normal life.

THE BANDS

KD Logo

Knuckel Drager was started in 1996 by five born and raised, Eastside Madison lifers.  Drager is rooted in spirit of Madison's eastside, as all the members live there and probably always will.  The band still has four of the five original members along with three new additions, creating a seven monster super group !

Knuckel Drager bills itself as "The World Heaviest Surf Band" mixing distored guitars with traditional surf instrumental.  Their main musical influences are Link Wray, Davie Allan & the Arrows, The Mummies and The Bomboras.  Onstage, each member creates a different "Low Budget Monster" character, the origins of each are very hazy.

The band has played approximately 300 shows over the past 14 years and have played in 32 of the 50 states during that time. They have also released three CD's and a 7" record. The band's philosophy is purely to put on an entertaining stage show - no lyrics, they don't really have much to say about anything..... they're crazy monsters, what do you expect !?!?

ST PAUL, Fall 2002: Shane & Cynthia got all their more talented friends together to play songs they liked under the name Screamin' Cyn-Cyn & The Pons. Everyone else dropped out but Shane and Cynthia were in it for the long haul.

Cynthia moved to Madison and Shane moved into her closet. They started writing songs and going to open mics so they decided they were a band.

After a series of tumultuous and emotionally-charged personnel changes which helped cement Shane & Cynthia's reputation as the most perfectionist and demanding musicians in Madison, they finally settled on drummer Steve Shah and bassist Christian Burnson.

Madpolecats

The Madpolecats are a family band. Featuring Jesse on banjo, his father Papa 'Ski, on drums, his cousin Paul on guitar and accordian, his uncle Bobby Evans from The Alimony Blues Band on lap steel and guitar, and cousin J on stand-up bass. EVERYBODY SINGS and they have a sweet blend of 3, 4, and 5 part harmonies, playing reggae, ska, punk, psychobilly and bluegrass versions of your favorite songs. They have a long tradition of music in the family starting with Grandpa Al's swing band "The Sophisticates of Swing" back in the 1930's, to Papa 'Ski with one of the first surf bands in Wisconsin "The Blue Raiders" in the early '60's (pre-Beatles). Uncle Bobby Evans was playing taverns at 14 and rock festivals by 17...35 years later he is considered an A list slide player in the Midwest and works 5 nights a week with his band "The Alimony Blues Band". Jesse has more time in a semi-truck driving in reverse than most people driving forward. By the time he was 5, he knew more truckstop waitresses than rock stars know strippers. Jesse is the frontman that makes it happen. Cousin Paul is getting a look at the "music biz" that most kids his age can only dream about! Bringing a style of guitar already loved from his first band Borderline, he has worked with many other artists in session and live settings(Liz Orr, A Familiar Voice,Paul and The Basement Wreckers) along with bringing his jack of all trades skills on accordion, drums, piano, trombone, and most importantly kazoo. Cousin J on bass is the punk heart of the band. I mean he really, REALLY likes beer! He didn't make a deal with the Devil...the Devil made a deal with him (consequently, the Devil is know stuck with a time-share in Wisconsin Dells that's only good in March). Featuring a rotating cast of friends and family, every performance is truly unique and any variations only seem to make each event a truly special occasion! Come to a show, have a beer, have a shot, or just have fun! They promise no songs about suburban angst...just entertainment and family values(Manson Family values)!

A Royal Clark is a rock 'n roll band from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. They write honest tunes covered in the dust of the crumbling town they kick around in. The members have all played in various bands over the last decade, and this year, as A Royal Clark, the guys steadily played the bars of Dodge County, Wisconsin, promoting their record. They have played 3-4 hour shows of original material in venues usually dominated by cover bands. The gigs have gone great and with the forthcoming ep, "Model Railroad Disease," the band hopes to branch out further around the midwest.
