We Help Kids Build Social Connections
Social connections are key for shaping relationships with others. We know that a variety of interactions contribute to the way we engage with others. Those could include anything from facial expressions to verbal and nonverbal communication. We focus on developing the kinds of abilities that help children build relationships.
We understand that children on the autism spectrum sometimes need additional mentorship to establish and maintain friendships.. They may have a difficult time understanding social cues, having meaningful conversations, and forming relationships.
At WEAP, we help children make friends through active participation in small groups. Experienced leaders are dedicated to bringing young people together to engage in activities which provide opportunities to further their abilities with:

The Better Together Youth Club
Our Youth Clubs help kids better understand how to interact with others. Providing your child with the time and space to make and maintain friendships in a supportive environment. This helps kids understand what to do and boosts their confidence to achieve their goals. Our team is made up of highly trained staff who have chosen to specialize in working with children in our Youth Groups.
Navigating Social Situations
Navigating friendships is an essential part of growing up for any child. Our Better Together Youth Club is designed to bring children together in an enriched environment or at community events where each child is respected for their own uniqueness and where they can boost their self-confidence.
Having meaningful relationships requires communication, respecting boundaries, listening, and following instructions. Our team of experts is dedicated to helping your child reach their unique potential. We’ll start by identifying their strengths and goals we can set that will help them be even more successful. Then, we’ll focus on key skills that your child can practice.
Children with autism may require additional support to understand appropriate social connections. That’s why we’re here, to make it easier and less daunting for them. As your child grows, they will gain the confidence to adapt to new places.
